Andrea Sierra lived a remarkable 94 years centered on family, perseverance, and love. She and her husband, Lauro, built a life together that began in Mexico and continued in New Mexico, where they raised seven children and worked tirelessly to give them opportunity. Lauro worked as a machinist in the mines while Andrea devoted herself to caring for their large household, creating a home filled with strength, warmth, and determination. Together they believed deeply in education and proudly helped each of their seven children complete college. After Lauro’s passing four years before her, Andrea remained surrounded by the love of the family she helped build. Both parents lived into their nineties, leaving behind a legacy carried forward by their children, grandchildren, and the values they instilled in them.
Family members and friends are invited to memories here. Your responses will help us tell Andrea’s story.

Dear Nana,
Writing this has taken some time, as I have struggled to process the thought of you no longer being with us. However, I find joy in the belief that you are now at rest and reunited with your beloved husband and family.
You will always be my second mother. The inspiration you provided will last well beyond my own lifetime and into the lives of my children. The greatest lesson you taught me was the importance of being in service to one’s family. Your maternal love and cariño were present in everything you created, especially your cooking. From your signature green enchiladas and salpicon to your frijoles. I loved waking up to the smell of your huevos and chorizo; I truly believe it was your love that made the food so much better. The way you nurtured our souls through your cooking is a tradition I now carry…

Nana
I have so many wonderful memories with my Nana. I was truly blessed to grow up in the same city as her, which meant we got to spend so much time together with her and Tata, especially during the summers or whenever my parents had to work.
Some of my favorite memories are the simple ones: walking to the school playground, climbing trees, painting rocks, playing tetherball, and running through the slip-n-slide. We would crush cans, go to the grocery store together, and spend hours playing dominoes, Monopoly, or lotería. No matter what we were doing, she made it fun.
She helped me grow a nectarine tree, something that meant so much to me and is still a reminder of her love, patience, and care. She also made our saint costumes for school, putting so much time and heart into them.
Nana always made sure we had all of our…
So impressed that her grandkids really knew how to express their love for their Nana. Truly beautiful.
